Born in the bustling heart of Mexico City in 1967, I entered the world as the youngest of four siblings, blessed with parents whose love knew no bounds. Though their time with us was cut tragically short, I cherish the foundation they laid and the values they instilled. Early on, Mom and Dad imbued in us a deep appreciation for nature, a passion for exploration, and a curiosity for cultures beyond our own.
Our family escapades often led us to embrace the wonders of the great outdoors, whether it was camping amidst towering pines, soaking up the sun on sandy shores, or delving into the history of colonial towns and ancient ruins. These adventures not only fostered a sense of wonder but also sparked within me a profound love for photography.
It was during one such journey, amidst the majestic beauty of Yosemite National Park in the California Sierra Nevada Mountains, that my passion for photography was ignited. Entranced by the scenery, I found myself drawn to a souvenir store where serendipity led me to discover the works of Ansel Adams, a luminary whose artistry would shape my own journey behind the lens. I vividly recall purchasing a postcard featuring one of his iconic images, a moment that would forever imprint upon me the power of visual storytelling.
Reflecting on the significance of photography in my life, I find resonance in Adams' words: 'You do not make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.' Indeed, photography for me is a tapestry woven from the threads of experiences, memories, and emotions—a medium through which I encapsulate the essence of life's fleeting moments.
Today, I reside in the vibrant city of Chicago with my beloved wife, Tamara, and our two cherished companions, Jagger and Maxwell. As I look back on my journey thus far, I am filled with gratitude for the myriad experiences that have shaped me and the joy that photography continues to bring into my life.
Thank you for sharing in my story, and may you too find inspiration in the beauty that surrounds you.
